What To Expect

Before Your First Appointment:

I am excited you are considering starting this journey with me. Access to intake documentation will be provided once we determine the date of that appointment. If you will be using insurance to pay for services, this information is required prior to that initial session. If possible, please bring an adult to sit with your child for the first 15 to 30 minutes of this intake process. Often times, there are issues that are best discussed without children present and it is important for us to communicate openly about your concerns as we begin our work together.

What to Expect:

Your initial appointment is for clinical assessment and evaluation of cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and relational or social development challenges. I’ll review with you the recommendations that result from this process. Then, with your involvement, we develop treatment goals that are the foundation of the treatment plan. If it is determined during this appointment that I cannot meet your needs, referral information for other services will be provided.

After intake, we schedule sessions based on the specific needs of each client, these are generally weekly or bi-weekly, and are typically 45 to 50 minutes in length. Frequency of these sessions will change as observable progress is made. As needed, individuals and/or families are provided with resources that they can use outside sessions to help them implement suggested strategies to foster growth towards treatment goals. Challenges to complete work outside of session may also be recommended between appointments.

Scheduling Process and Emergency Situations:

My goal is to provide an individualized service, and as such, I personally take your call and respond to each referral. If you are under 18, you will need your parent or legal guardian to call to assist in scheduling with me. When unavailable, a private, secure voicemail will receive your call. You can expect me to return your call during regular business hours, generally Monday through Friday, between 8AM and 5PM. In the event of mental health crisis or emergency please call 911 or, if possible, find an additional adult to assist with transporting your child to the nearest hospital emergency room. You will also find additional resources, including 24/7 support lines, under the “Resources” tab.
